Hamakua coast.

Beautiful Kona sunsets on the west side of the island.

South point has an area where you go to jump off the cliffs. We estimate it's about 25-30 feet up and about 50+ feet deep. What a thrill. If you really feel adventurous...you could jump into the blow hole like the locals!

The black sand beach near south point has never disappointed us with turtle sightings. It is a popular destination for them to make their nests, and rest after playing in the waves!

McKenzie State Park 10 minutes from the house. Fantastic place for an afternoon picnic, or sit and read your book and watch the waves crash.

There is snow on Mauna Kea...this was taken in February. YES!!! snow...in HAWAII!!

Hapuna Beach State Park.  This beach is located  north of Kona near mile marker 69 on HWY 19.

Kona Coast State Park
a.k.a. Kekaha Kai or Mahai'ula Beach...Turn left on the semi paved road between mile marker 91 and 90. This is a very rugged drive. I would reccomend a 4x4! Salt and pepper sand with great swimming. NO lifeguard...currents can be STRONG!

Kapoho Tide Pools                DIRECTIONS
Take Highway 130 south from Pahoa. When it dead ends at Highway 137, turn right. Just before Mile Marker #9, turn left on Kapoho Kai Road. Take the next left on Kaheka and then right on Waiopae. The pools stretch for 1 mile along the coast

Kolekole Beach Park 10 Minutes north of Hilo town. Great spot for watching surfers, having a picnic and chillaxing.

Kehena Beach is a NUDE BEACH! Fantastic place to swim out with the dolphins. Very relaxing. Getting TO this beach is quite a hike, and is not for a person uneasy on their feet. You must hike over lava, rock and with no discernable hand rail. Well worth it to those who can do it! 15 MINS from the house!
